portrait of a Gelugpa-lama

firegilded bronze, bottom still sealed
China, dated 1735-1796 (reign of Emperor Qian Long.
high: 21,5 cm.

inscribed at the backside with:
da qing qian long nian jing zao – (Respectfully made [during] the years of [emperor] Qian Long of the Great Qing [dynasty]),
high: 21,5 cm.

I do not know of another bronze, depicting a lama, and inscribed with the Qian Long-text. I do not suppose this bronze once belonged to a complete pantheon, but could have belonged to a group of portraits of lamas, important for the Chinese Imperial court.
Bottom is still sealed with a beautiful gilded plate, engraved with a visvavajra.
