two tiger cilinders

knotted wool and cotton, stuffed with grass
Tibet, first half 20th cent.
lenght: 78 cm; diam. 14 cm.

Very rare set of cilindrical hangings, with tiger stripes motive, to be hanged beside the entrancedoor to rooms/temples, associated with the Dalai Lama.
I have seen these tiger hangings at the entrances of the the personal appartment on the roof of the Potala-palace in Lhasa, at the Norbu Lingka in Lhasa, and at the Tashi Lhunpo-monastery in Shigatse.
