paint and gold on textile
Tibet, 18th cent.
siz: 68 x 53 cm.

Central a seated deity, with in one hand his attribute, the elephant hook (ankusha). He is surrounded by nineteen rows of smaller depictions of himself (but in Buddha appearance), and flanked by two standing (female?) bodhisattvas, also holding ankushas. Below is a fierce protective deity, with the for the Bonpo-pantheon typical, animal heads.

This central deity could be a version of the main Bonpo figure Thönpa Shenrab.
